Actually, each of these groups have special forum sections for private-communication with other staff members of the same or higher type. Keeping the conversations out of the "public's eye", allows us to make sure that members get what they need without having to search through our monotonous conversations. 

Map-Craft.com has several levels of memberships
Special levels for members:
Project staff - certain projects/file developments to be community used.
Moderator staff - supervisor's of certain site divisions
Game dev/mod staff - we have game mods happening behind the scenes.
Review staff - these people review maps, games, tools and programs.
Forum staff - moderators for specific forum sections.
