Indie Engines change course

Well.. It's been a very interesting couple of weeks to say the least. And while this remains a modding community, I thought I'd share some of the things going on in the Indie community that might be of interest to some of you. I will discuss three different engines here that have/will be making changes to their products. I hope you find some use for this.

Torque:

Torque has recently launched it's latest creation, the T3D engine. It is a vast improvement over TGEA and in some ways, blows away most other engines out there, including AAA. The engine itself runs approx. $1000.00, but they are coming out with an artist version for much cheaper soon. This is an engine to keep your eyes on. Here is a link to the information:

UDK

Epic has made some changes to their Unreal product. They have developed the UDK (Unreal Developers Kit) and have advised that it is free for non commercial purpose. They have also said up afew different versions of a license for people who do wish to go commercial finally bringing this AAA engine into the hands of the indie community. This imo, is s huge developement for indie teams and individuals to take advantage of. Here is a link to the information:

Unity Basic

Unity has released their previosuly basic version which ran at $200.00 for free. While the pro version runs approx. $1500.00, the basic version has many of the same features as the pro and would be a great starting point for those wanting to dabble in game creation. Unity is known for it's ease of use. Here is a link to the information:

Thats about it for now guys. I hope some of you find this information useful, and good luck with all of your projects!

Happy Thanksgiving!

To everyone who celebrates it here on Map-Craft, we would like to take the time to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving day today. The time honored tradition of eating more food than one's stomach can safely handle coupled with slowly falling asleep in front of a football game on TV... with thoughts of wonderment on how you managed to eat that 3rd helping of turkey and stuffing.. is one everyone should take joy in. So, from us to you, have a great holiday! Twisted Evil ~LK~
